About Criminal Bail Bonds in Los Angeles
Criminal Bail Bonds are one of our main areas of practice. You may need assistance with a Criminal Bail Bond if a loved one has been arrested for a criminal offense of any kind and is being held in custody. They will not be released until bail is paid, and at times this can be set at an extremely high amount that neither you nor your loved one has any chance of paying on your own. This is where a Bail Bond comes in.
A Bail Bondsman such as Los Angeles Bail Agent Dan Nesser can act on your behalf to secure what is called a Bail Bond. With a Criminal Bail Bond, all you have to pay is 10% of the total value of the bail amount. The bond is basically a guarantee that the balance will be paid in full if the defendant (your loved one) does not show up to his or her court appearances.
Bail in the criminal court system works as a means of ensuring that defendants show up to all court appearances but do not have to remain in police custody between appearances. Some defendants are released on their own recognizance, which means that they do not have to pay bail. Other defendants must pay a certain amount of money, either determined by the court or taken from a pre-determined schedule of bail amounts in the area, in order to be released. If they pay this amount and then show up for all court appearances, the money will be returned to them, in full. If they fail to show up, it is surrendered to the court.
