I’ve listed below some answers to frequently asked questions. If you have a question that is not listed here, simply give our office a call. We’re always open.
How long does it take to get out on Bail?
The paperwork takes approximately 30 minutes, not including transportation time. The release time for the defendant after the Jail receives our paperwork is generally one hour or less for local Police Departments and 3-12 hours for County Jails. Generally speaking, the busier the holding facility, the longer it takes.
How much does it cost for a Bail Bond?
The premium due upon posting of bail is 10% of the total bail amount. This rate, or “Premium”, is state regulated by the Department of Insurance. For Example, A $20,000 Bail Bond has a premium rate of $2,000. This premium is NON-REFUNDABLE and fully earned once the defendant is released from custody.
Dan's Bail Bonds offers Interest Free Financing and flexible terms, if necessary. Whether you pay now or pay in installments, a bail bond still costs 10% of the face value.
Note: Be careful of some bail offers advertising a 5% now, and 5% later rate. These are “Bait and Switch” pricing tactics that can disguise large interest rates or major collateral requirements. By law, a bail bond costs 10% of the total bail amount. Call for more details: 1-800-409-8141.
Do you do and federal bonds?
Yes. We can help you with both. Both of these types of bonds have unique criteria and rates. Please call our office for details.
Do I need collateral?
Every case is different. Most of the time a co-signer who has full-time employment will not need to put up collateral. However, when a bail bond amount is larger than $50,000, or if there is an unpaid balance at the time of bonding, collateral can become more necessary. Each case is unique unto itself. Please call for more details.
Will my boss find out about this?
Not from us! Our services are completely confidential, and discretion is assured. By doing business with a private agency like Dan's Bail Bonds bail bonds, your personal information is protected.
What if the person I bail out does not appear in court?
The court will issue a warrant for their arrest and notify us of a “Failure to Appear”. If the defendant is cooperative, we will assist you in reinstating the bail with the court and establishing a new court date. If the defendant is uncooperative and has become a flight-risk, we begin the process of hiring Bounty Hunters to locate and apprehend the defendant back to jail. If we are able to locate the defendant within 6 months from their missed court date, you are released from liability and will be responsible for Bounty Hunter Fee’s. If we cannot locate the defendant after 6 months you will be responsible for the entire Bail Amount.
Are there “Discounts” available?
Yes. If you’ve hired a personal attorney or you're an active union member, we can offer an 8% rate, instead of the typical 10% rate.
When is the bail process over?
When the court "Exonerates” the bail bond. An exoneration is granted when the defendant fulfills all of their court ordered obligations. There can be no missed court dates thru sentencing. When Dan's Bail Bonds Bail Bonds has received a copy of the exoneration in our office, we release any and all collateral and you are no longer liable on any level.
Can we bail by phone or can you come to us?
Yes on both. If you have a fax machine and credit card, we can bail by phone. We offer free mobile service to your home or office (In unmarked, Discreet vehicles) and we also have two locations for your convenience as well. There is no situation we cannot handle.
