| Rogue Bondsman arrested in Orange County |
Making recent bail news out of Orange County last week, local bail bondsman Ronald Lee Brockway, 50, was arrested by local sheriff's department officers for running an illegal bail bond referral scheme. Brockway allegedly solicited attorney referrals and inmate business with "kickbacks", "favors" and illegal professional conduct. The bail bond industry is apart of the massive Insurance industry, and essentially we as bail bondsman are "insurance salesman". The bonds we sell are really insurance policies, and the 10% fee we charge is called the "premium". The violations that Mr. Brockway is accused of committing undermine the entire industry as a whole. His illegal business practices not only give the bail industry a bad name, but alters the "competitive playing fields" business-wise. Ironic that this bail bondsman needed to call his own office to bail him out! How embarrassing. But this guy needs to have his license revoked and suspended permanently for the felonies he's committed. Hopefully, he won't come into YOUR line of work.
